Where Reading and Horses Come Together for Learning and Growth! 

Pony Pals is a unique literacy program that blends Horse Powered Reading® with hands-on equine experiences to create a fun, engaging, and impactful learning environment. Whether your child is a struggling reader, an emerging book lover, or just looking for a new way to build confidence, Pony Pals offers an interactive approach that makes reading exciting and meaningful!

Why Horse-Powered Reading?

We provide children with the tools they need to become successful, confident readers. However, social-emotional challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns can often create obstacles to learning. Horse Powered Reading® helps break through these barriers by allowing students to develop and reinforce essential reading skills in the moment—while interacting with horses from the ground.

Students use toys and props to identify obstacles and work through five critical reading skills:

• Phonemic Awareness – Recognizing and manipulating sounds in words

• Decoding – Breaking down words for easier reading Vocabulary – Expanding word knowledge and understanding

• Fluency – Reading smoothly and confidently

• Comprehension – Understanding and interpreting text

By combining movement, social-emotional awareness, and academic learning, Horse Powered Reading® empowers children to overcome challenges—both on the page and in life!

 

What to Expect in Each Session

Guided Reading Activities – Fun and interactive literacy exercises tailored to each age group.
Reading with Horses – Build confidence and fluency by reading aloud in the presence of gentle ponies.
Horse-Themed Literacy Games – Strengthen comprehension and vocabulary through movement-based learning.
Basic Horse Care & Horsemanship – Learn essential skills about grooming, leading, and understanding horses.
Mounted Activities – Experience the joy of riding while reinforcing key learning concepts!

 

Session Details:

 When: Every Saturday
🕚 Session 1: 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Ages 5-7)
🕛 Session 2: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM (Ages 9-12)
